A bike ride through the Murnauer Moos moor is a memorable experience. After all, you will be riding through one of the most important remnants of the Ice Age found in the northern foothills of the Alps. This extraordinary natural wonder abounding in rare plants and animals - many of which are threatened by extinction - is most spectacular in the springtime.

Add to this, sensational views of the Wetterstein and Ammergau Alpen ranges bordering the wetlands to the south. These are just a few of the many highlights on your bike ride through the Murnauer Moos. You will start near the Tengelmann Center shopping mall. The first part leads down the bike path along the famous Olympiastraße to the village of Hechendorf. From there, you continue along the bike path next to the Loisach river towards the village of Eschenlohe. On the way, you will be able to enjoy a beautiful view of the Wetterstein range. From Eschenlohe, you will follow a paved road that takes you below the Laber and Aufacker mountains, then to Schwaigen, and finally to the village of Grafenaschau. Here, you may want to stop at the Habersetzer cafe which is known for its scenic terrace and homemade cake. The ride back from Grafenaschau to Murnau follows the Lindenbach creek and passes by the Ramsach chapel.

Tip: As a reward, you can refuel and relax in the beer garden or the cozy rooms of the Ähndl restaurant located across from the chapel. Afterwards, it is just a short ride with a brief uphill climb back to the starting point of the bike route.
