The wild banks of the Isar mountain stream have their own special charm in the winter and are ideal for discovering the Alpine world of the Karwendel on a winter hike.

Individual blades of grass peeking through the snow. Reeds bending under the weight of the snow. The water of the Isar river sparkling in the sun. The hiking trails along the Isar river are especially beautiful in the winter. Along the broad banks of the Isar river, they are sunny, well groomed, and marked. Ideal conditions for the perfect winter hike.

A leisurely round trail in a Shangri La-like natural panorama

The head of the trail is at the parking lot at the bridge across the Isar river in Krün. Walk across the bridge and turn right, first onto trail no. 300 and then trail no. 302, to the Isarstausee reservoir. Then follow trail no. 310 around the lake and eventually turn right to return to Krün. It takes about one hour to round the Isarstausee on this scenic circular trail of about 4 km (2.5 mi.).

Tip: Combine this looped hiking trail with a hike along the Auhüttenweg trail.
