The backdrop couldn't be more awesome: The Murnau Moorland and the mountain panorama of the Wetterstein range look on while more than a dozen folk music groups play at three different venues every year.
For the musicians and visitors, it's all about an appreciation of high-quality regional folk music. What makes the "Aufgspuit im Murnauer Moos" event so special is that this open-air regional folk music concert takes place at three different venues:
the folk music groups alternate between the Drachenstich, the St. Georg chapel and the Ähndl beer garden.
Authentic regional folk music in the Blue Land
The folk music program was initiated in the year 2007. Since then, it has grown increasingly popular from year to year. When the musicians and their fans come together, it's about more than playing music: it's about sharing their love of authentic regional folk music.
The afternoon is organized by the Tourist Information Office of the market town of Murnau and the Camerloh Music School. All kinds of Bavarian specialties and hearty Brotzeit plates of cold cuts - and of course beer and other beverages - are available in the Ähndl beer garden, plus a stunning vista of the Murnau moorland with the majestic Alps in the background. Homemade cakes and coffee from the Murnau Coffee Roasting House and fresh Bavarian Schmalznudel donuts are provided by the Landfrauen (countrywomen) of the Bavarian Farmers' Association in the county of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
